A Word Fitly Spoken

Proverbs 25:11, "A word fitly spoken, is like apples of gold in settings of silver." Recently I was given a moment with a sweet and interesting girl who had planted herself on top of a smooth giant rock near the observatory at the top of Stone Mountain. When I first caught glimpse of her, the profile of a young person in deep thought, I couldn’t help but take a couple of snapshots with my cell camera as the pose, the background, and the moment, was apropos for photography. Glancing over the photos, realizing that any girl might appreciate the fact she is the object of a great photo opp, I approached her and told her this would make a perfect picture for a social media post or blog if she were writing one. Very excited she asked to see the pic as indeed she had just finished a blog that she had written and allowed me to take a glimpse on her phone. As I studied her face at a closer range, no one could miss the tears streaming down her cheeks, and glancing through her

A New Dawn, A New Day, A New Way...and It IS Well!

Life has its ups and downs.          Death of my spouse and others very close to me in 2018. Down…          New direction in life. Ups and Downs…          New opportunities. Ups for the most part...          New realities. Definitely down… But, the key to all of this is what I have learned. You see, I could have allowed the downs to take me on a path of no return…a path that would lead to me giving up. This path was very realistic to me after the death of my beloved husband, John, of over 27 years. But, I knew that God had more for me. I knew that God had planted a seed on the inside of me that would cause me to move forward even when I didn’t want to move forward. After my husband’s death, I could have just stayed in, “ It shall be well ” land. Instead, I moved like the Shunamite woman to the land of “ It IS well… ” Please allow me to explain. In II Kings 4:15 - 37, we meet a Shunamite woman. She was intent on serving the Prophet God chose to use in that region in

Keeping the Faith

"OBEDIENCE AND PERSEVERANCE... THAT DOESN'T GROW WEARY"  GALATIANS 6:9   " And let us not be weary in well doing: for in due season we shall reap, if we faint not."  Do you want to know God intimately and walk with him like Enoch? Would you like to have the faith of Abraham? How about the zeal of Paul? What about the radiant beauty of Esther or the bravery and leadership qualities of Deborah? Do you want to be humble like Mary? Though these hero's of the faith were not perfect, they all sought to please God by persevering through difficult times. In our Bible, not only do we read about the triumphant victories of great men and women of God, but we also get to peer into their weaknesses and downfalls, as well. It is through their life's example that each succeeding generation will have the opportunity to become more and more valiant as children of the King. It is from the journey's of others that we should learn wha

When Every Move Counts

When Every Move Counts I was rushing around our home in Bluffton SC unpacking boxes, directing the movers, organizing closets, and rearranging furniture when I noticed that the movers had forgotten to unwrap shelves for my shoes in one of my closets. They had worked very hard and it had been a busy day for all of us. We were ready to see things come to a close. The movers were on the way out when I raced after the men and reported to them that the shelf still had their blanket wrapped around it. I knew that they would need to put it on the moving van with them. A young man in the group responded quickly, "Oh, I will take care of that for you. "We walked back to the closet together. As he was untying the cords, he began to ask questions. "So, I understand you are an author. "Yes," I replied. I have written several traditionally published books and quite a few self-published books. I am currently working on a new project." &qu
