In the Presence of God

Come into My Presence and I will refresh you as you go through the fires of purification.” [Prophecy]

The Presence of God is a place of refreshing when we go through things. Unfortunately, this is not an area in which many people wish to remain. Most people will dip into it every once in a while and come back out of it quickly. Why? Because in His Presence, many people see themselves and the imperfections they are determined to hide. No person in his or her right mind desires to see those imperfections! And they don’t want them to be seen by God!

Coming into God’s Presence for a moment or season in our lives is like jumping in a swimming pool and getting right back out. We stay in only long enough to get wet but refuse to stay in to get the full enjoyment out of the situation.

Remain in My Presence and I will restore the years that the cankerworm has destroyed in your life. I will restore your youth. I will restore unto you the joy of My salvation for your life. I will restore in you the zeal for My Kingdom.” [Prophecy]

Remaining in God’s Presence will not only bring refreshing, it will also bring restoration. God promises that if we remain in His presence, He will;

(1)   Restore the years the cankerworm… A cankerworm is a type of moth that destroys the leaves and fruit of trees. Many things in life come against us to destroy our faith (leaves) and deeds (fruit) of all God has called us to do. The enemy of our souls places obstacles in our paths, causing us to doubt God and all He is doing in our lives. God has called us to remain in His presence so He can restore all that has been destroyed. The enemy’s job is to steal, to kill, and to destroy everything good in our lives. He does this by causing counterfeit situations in our lives. Remaining in God’s Presence restores us so we can move past those counterfeit situations into the things God truly has for us. Jesus came to give us life and that more abundantly. Remaining in God’s Presence will bring us back to the full realization of that abundant life in Jesus Christ. But, we must remain in the presence of God.

(2)   Restore your youth. Restore means to return to a previous condition or to give new strength or vigor. God desires that we remain in His presence so He can restore us to our former way of being in Him: youthful, energetic, strong in Him and in the power of His might! Psalms 103:3 – 5 Who forgiveth all thine iniquities; Who healeth all thy diseases; Who redeemeth thy life from destruction; Who crowneth thee with lovingkindness and tender mercies; Who satisfieth thy mouth with good things; so that thy youth is renewed like the eagle’s. God desires to restore us to our youthful vim and vigor so we can go forth and do exploits in His name. He wants to restore that can-do attitude we had when we first believed.
(3)   Restore unto you the joy of His salvation. Do you remember when you first received your salvation and accepted Jesus Christ as your personal Saviour? Do you remember how your life seemed to change overnight? Wasn’t it just splendiferous? And then, life happened. You began the walk of the Christian which became challenging at best. The joy was replaced withdoubt, fear, unbelief, jadedness… God wants to bring you back to that joy. That joy is found in His presence. In His presence is fullness of joy! Step into His presence and renew that joy!
(4)   Restore in you the zeal for His Kingdom. I don’t know about you, but when I first received my salvation, I was a zealot for the Lord. Everything that came out of the Bible, came out of me. I was a street corner preacher! I was hot for the Lord. And then, again, life happened. But, guess what? Life has happened againand I’m back. What about you? Are you ready for the zeal of the Lord to become your lifestyle again? God is waiting for you to step into His presence. He wants to fill you up so that you can go and do ALL He has called you to do for such a time as this!

Are you seeking the presence of the Lord? Are you ready to allow that presence to saturate you in such a way that you come away with newness, vim, and vigor that you haven’t experienced in some time? Allow yourself to step into His presence and remain there until you receive what you are there for. You won’t be disappointed.

Please say this prayer with me…

Father God, in the name of Jesus, I desire Your presence. Please help me to get out of my own way and get into Your Way for me. Please help me to not fear being in Your presence, but to be joyful in Your presence so that I may receive everything that You have for me for such a time as this. Thank You for Your patience with me. I love You with all of my heart. In Jesus’ name I pray, Amen.

Why Honor & Respect Leaders?

I suppose one of the hardest lessons to learn in Christianity is learning to give honor and respect to someone in regards to their position. Oftentimes, even in our church life, we will be intertwined with people in authority whom we don’t agree with, who don’t do things the way we want them to, perhaps we think of them as less educated or even as one who is not being sensitive to our needs or wants. Never-the-less, God’s Word tells us to give respect and honor to them as being the ones in authority over us in that setting and/or for that season. He also promises us that as we do this, at the appointed time He will raise us up to be honored and respected in the same way that we have given such grace. This makes me think of David. While David was anointed to be King as a youth, he was not appointed to be King until many, many years later. In fact, from David’s perspective, he probably (at times) wondered if he’d even live long enough to see that prophecy come to pass. You se...

When Every Move Counts

When Every Move Counts I was rushing around our home in Bluffton SC unpacking boxes, directing the movers, organizing closets, and rearranging furniture when I noticed that the movers had forgotten to unwrap shelves for my shoes in one of my closets. They had worked very hard and it had been a busy day for all of us. We were ready to see things come to a close. The movers were on the way out when I raced after the men and reported to them that the shelf still had their blanket wrapped around it. I knew that they would need to put it on the moving van with them. A young man in the group responded quickly, "Oh, I will take care of that for you. "We walked back to the closet together. As he was untying the cords, he began to ask questions. "So, I understand you are an author. "Yes," I replied. I have written several traditionally published books and quite a few self-published books. I am currently working on a new project." ...

Still Single? What's Wrong with You?

I HAVE NEVER BEEN MARRIED, AND NEITHER HAVE I EVER BEEN DIVORCED. I Corinthians 7:8, " But I say to the unmarried and to the widows: It is g ood for them if they remain (single) even as I am." Years ago Elisabeth Elliot spoke at a women's conference at my church where I served as her tech attendant for speaking at the podium. In one of her sessions, I nearly fell off of the front row pew when I heard her say that she didn't care for "dating" and that it is a man-made tradition no where found in the Word of God. Suddenly everything I ever felt about this topic and the discomfort of the expectation of having a relationship made perfect sense and applauded the Lord and her for making my life whole at that moment. Everyone there, married or single, divorced or widowed, all came into hearty agreement as she dispelled some of the mess we have created by interacting dynamics of men and women outside of the Biblical way. She was a great proponent on the provid...
