Walk Wisely

Walk Wisely

Your beauty should not come from outward adornment, such as elaborate hairstyles and the wearing of gold jewelry or fine clothes.
Rather, it should be that of your inner self, the unfading beauty of a gentle and quiet spirit, which is of great worth in God’s sight. I Pet.3:3-4

Freedom Today was my birth child, given as a gift from the Lord. It was a nationally and internationally syndicated television show that aired for a number of years. I was the host and executive producer of the show and I would bring on guests who shared their stories of radical, life-altering experiences. They would share their personal testimonies of how God had brought them from a very dark place into the light of His love.

I received a call one day from a woman named Megan who lived in Fort Worth, Texas. She was broken. I could hardly understand her through the tears. She had grown up in church, but through her time as a young mother and her experience with a very bad marriage, she had walked away from the church and the Lord. Megan had three girls and had been through a rather brutal divorce. She was left raising her children on her own. She worked for a very profitable company in Fort Worth.

Megan had discovered that her boss had been skimming off of the business for some time. At first, Megan thought about turning him in but feared that would mean the end of her job. After some time, she decided to take a portion of the profit for herself as well. For a number of years they were successful at defrauding the company of millions. Eventually, the FBI caught on to their scheme and they were both arrested for a host of offenses. Megan was going to go to prison. Through her tears, she cried out, "If only.... If only I would have lived my life as I knew I should have. If only I would have made better decisions.  If only I had not been so greedy. If only I would have remained in church. If only..."

Nothing outside of salvation will impact living a life without regrets more than having godly character.

Character counts.
Character building is an important aspect of living a Christian life that is honorable and pleases God. God requires that we grow in character, therefore, we should be constantly growing and not become stagnant in our faith

Where do we start?
We start with the understanding of the importance of character development, then we need to understand the process of character development and, lastly, the joy it brings.

What is character?
Character is what defines you. It is a person's mental, moral, and ethical qualities distinctive to that particular individual. It's their personality, their nature, and their disposition. It is moral integrity.

Character is the outward reflection of your inward righteousness. It is what people will remember about you by when you are long gone.

Is character important?
Yes, especially if you want to live a life of no regrets. Most of us will not find our life in as much disarray as Megan, but most of us have a bucket full of regrets. How can you live a life in such a way that you are protected from those devastating decisions? When our time here on earth is done, will we look back and feel the magnitude of a life filled with regret? We get one chance to do this thing called life and we want to do it in the best way possible.

Your character is defined and refined by your endurance while walking through the challenges of godly discipline and suffering. Walk wisely.

Character building is best accomplished through adversity.
Character building is an important aspect of living a Christian life that is honorable, pleases God, and minimizes a life of regrets. The Word of God lays out the clear path for character development. It includes suffering, endurance, and hope. (Ro 5:3-5)

Your character is defined by the way you go through the adversities of life and the way you come out of those same adversities; character matters.

Choose to not be defined by life's circumstances.
Your character is defined by how you choose to allow life to define you. You can choose to become bitter or better, defeated or victorious, wrapped up in bondage or set free. You can choose to sit in remorse and allow your mistakes to define you, or you can learn from your failures and turn them into opportunities to grow and help others grow. You can wallow in regrets of the past or you can rise above the drama and trauma and embrace life.

These choices will determine if you are immobilized by loss or propelled by opportunity. Put the past in the past. Move into your future with vigor and allow the lessons that you have learned to be cobblestones on your path to a bright and productive future for the Lord; no more regrets, only life lessons with godly purposes blossoming forth. Live a life of no regrets!

God Hears My Prayers

GOD Hears My Prayers 10 Promises that  God hears, God knows, God sees, God cares... God is with me.        I am not alone.  "And remember, I am with you always, even to the end of the age" (Matt. 28:20b).    2. God hears my prayers . "On the day I called, You answered me; and strengthened me in my soul" (Psalm 138:3).      3.  God will give me the endurance I need. "He gives power to the faint, and to those who have no might He increases strength. Even the youths shall faint and be weary, and the young men shall utterly fall" (Isa. 40:29-30).     4. God's love will never leave me . "For I am persuaded that neither death nor life, neither angels nor principalities nor powers, neither things present nor things to come, neither height nor depth, nor any other created thing, shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord" (Rom. 8:38-39)...

God Heals In Spite of Rebellion

Psalms 107:20 KJV "He sent his word, and healed them, and delivered them from THEIR DESTRUCTIONS."  Did you know that God wants to  heal us from our own ignorant behaviors that have caused our sicknesses ?   Many years ago, I was seeking the Lord on how to pray for someone who was 70 years old and bleeding to death from an aneurysm. Was it right for me to pray for them to be healed? They had been an alcoholic their entire life... plus, they were old. Had they lived out their days? Was it their time to die? In my human heart, I even justified their demise because, after-all, they brought their suffering upon them self.   Anyway, as I desperately sought the Lord on this persons behalf, the Lord revealed to me that He wanted to heal them IN SPITE OF THEIR REBELLION.  Why?   Psalm 107:21 KJV "Oh  that men would praise the Lord for his goodness , and for his wonderful works to the children of men!" ...

Got Hope?

Now may the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, that you may abound in hope by the power of the Holy Spirit . Romans 15:13 Are you living a life of hope today, right now, this minute?  What thoughts have gone through your mind today? Are they hope-filled or hope-less?  Webster’s dictionary defines hope as “the feeling that what is wanted can be had and that things will turn out for the best, (v) to look forward to with desire and reasonable confidence.” A hope-filled thought is knowing that things will turn out for the best. A hopeless thought is believing the worst about a situation. I often hear these expressions: “I hope my marriage will last.”“I hope my kids will be happy.”“I hope I have enough money.”“I hope my business will be successful.” Are you relying on yourself or others for hope?  We can’t “hope” things in to existence.  Misplaced hope is placing hope in ourselves, our abilities, our situation or circ...
