Choosing God’s Best

Our scripture verses for Today's Devotional are taken from Jeremiah 29:11 and Deuteronomy 30:19.

Everyday life choices can be overwhelming, but God’s word promises that He orders the steps of the righteous. When God’s beloved filters facts and thoughts through His omniscient wisdom and unfailing love, the toughest decisions can be made with confidence and peace – knowing that He only wants the best for His children.

Jeremiah 29:11
For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the LORD, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.

Deuteronomy 30:19
I call heaven and earth to record this day against you, that I have set before you life and death, blessing and cursing: therefore choose life, that both thou and thy seed may live:

When God says He's predestined our life, it does not mean that we are currently living out the good plans He has for us. The scriptures tell us over and over that we are agents of free will. So much so that we can boycott God's ultimate plan of eternal life only to end up in a place that was never intended for mankind to be at all.

Deuteronomy 30:19 is a clear picture of God's sovereign will of choice. The map is drawn. The direction is clear. The GPS is talking. The question from the throne of heaven is, "What road will you choose?" One road leads to life more abundantly. The other road leads to trouble, despair, brokenness, heartbreak, and pain.

The wonderful news is that it is never too late to recalculate the pathway of God’s good plans for our life!

Simply decide to agree with God – be quick to obey the Holy Spirit and be resolute in seeking His will. In doing so, we’ll begin to live in the fullness of God’s blessings – creating a life of victory that is passed from one generation to another.

The choice is ours.

So, which road will you choose?

Let’s Pray
Father God, help me obey your word. Help me to listen to the voice of the Holy Spirit. Lord, empower me to live out my destiny. I know that every path you lead me down is the way of blessing. Thank you, Lord, for your good plans and the hope you bring to my heart as I trust You for direction. In Jesus Name, Amen.

Got Hope?

Now may the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, that you may abound in hope by the power of the Holy Spirit . Romans 15:13 Are you living a life of hope today, right now, this minute?  What thoughts have gone through your mind today? Are they hope-filled or hope-less?  Webster’s dictionary defines hope as “the feeling that what is wanted can be had and that things will turn out for the best, (v) to look forward to with desire and reasonable confidence.” A hope-filled thought is knowing that things will turn out for the best. A hopeless thought is believing the worst about a situation. I often hear these expressions: “I hope my marriage will last.”“I hope my kids will be happy.”“I hope I have enough money.”“I hope my business will be successful.” Are you relying on yourself or others for hope?  We can’t “hope” things in to existence.  Misplaced hope is placing hope in ourselves, our abilities, our situation or circ...
